Folk Dance NZ National Workshop 2016
2–3 April 2016
Addington Primary School hall, 22 Brougham Street, Addington, Christchurch
Here is your chance to learn new dances from an experienced, overseas tutor and to celebrate (belatedly) FDNZ's 21st birthday!
Farandol Folkdancers are excited to be hosting this year's FDNZ national dance workshop in Christchurch, on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd April. Australian tutor Gary Dawson returns to our shores with a mix of dance delights, such as Gyimesi dances and some in Romani style from the Balkans.
Enjoy live music for part of the workshop and for the Saturday night dance party that we are sharing with Bill Baritompa's contradance group. We shall also (belatedly) celebrate FDNZ's 21st anniversary.
Contact for further information: Irene Absalom, email.
See this map for the location of the Addington Primary School hall. Access is from Simeon Street.
It's South of Brougham St, some paper maps may call it Collins St still at the school, next to Simeon Park, from the West of the school grounds.
The driveway leads into the car park with more parking on the hard courts. The hall is the first building one gets to. The marker on the map is on the hall building.
There will be a very small number of billets available, so it will be first in, first served. Regretfully, we are unable to offer an accommodation finding or booking service.
Early Bird price of $30 if paid by Sat 19 March; $40 after 19 March.
Saturday evening party only $5, when not attending a day-time workshop. (Note the party is included in the workshop price.)
Extra for CD and DVD (see registration form).
The price includes all workshop sessions, Saturday night party, morning and afternoon teas and Saturday lunch.

Gary Dawson has been teaching folk dance for over 30 years, specialising in Balkan and Hungarian dance styles. He has taught and choreographed for Macedonian, Serbian, Greek, Turkish and Hungarian community groups, international folk dance groups, amateur and professional dance ensembles and dance camps and festivals in Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Hungary and Serbia. Taking groups on dance tours to countries such as Serbia has added to his dance knowledge.
Gary will bring with him a video of Milo Destanovski dancing. If you would like to get a copy, please bring your own USB memory stick along.
[Online registration removed because the event is now past.]
If you have registered already by paper or email we would really appreciate if you could register again online. Obviously don't pay again, the payment will be matched to the person.
